Chemical Peels

The outermost layer of skin often becomes dry and dull due to environmental damage and a buildup of dead cells. Chemical peels at Ironwood Dermatology exfoliate the face, which removes dead cells, reveals healthy and living cells beneath, and encourages the creation of beneficial proteins.

CoolSculpting

+

CoolSculpting® is ideal for anyone in the Tucson area looking to slim down areas on the body where stubborn fat resists both diet and exercise. The nonsurgical body contouring treatment works on the belly, flanks, thighs, hips, bra line, and even the neck, where fat can create a double chin.

We moved to AZ a few years ago and my wife and I got appointments at Ironwood. My wife has fair skin and goes every 6 months for a thorough check. Dr Glaesser never seemed too concerned with spots my wife pointed out. A large spot on my wife’s temple was deemed to be a solar keratosis. Something that is pre cancerous and should be biopsied. Dr Glaesser suggested instead for my wife to go over to the cash only cosmetic section to have it lasered off. My wife trusting the doctor scheduled the appointment. When the cosmetic nurse saw the spot she immediately said this needs to be looked at and is not a cosmetic problem. Thankfully one of the PAs was available to look at it and agreed it did not look good at all. He biopsied it immediately. A week later my wife founds out via patient portal that she has cancer as it is a Basal cell carcinoma. The MA did not call for another week to tell my wife she has skin cancer!! Thankfully in that time my wife found another mohs dermatologist who doesn’t do cosmetic stuff and got us in for the removal procedure very quickly. If you just want to pump your face up with Botox then Ironwood is your place. If you actually want quality ethical dermatological care look elsewhere

Mostly positive experience, but they leave messages that no one in my household can understand. Still trying to get someone to tell me EXACTLY what they excised in a slow and understandable way. I have requested they write it down and was ignored. Funny, their voice mail states to speak slowly and clearly. Please teach your staff to do the same.

Had a great experience today as a first time patient! I called at 8:00am to see if could change my appointment time to something earlier because of a short notice change in my schedule. They were very accommodating and even tho I didn’t make it on time for the 8:30 appointment they gave me (got there closer to 8:40) they still worked me in and I was out by 9:00! Thoroughly and kind practitioner, and absolutely delightful staff from the front desk to the medical assistants. I felt welcome and appreciated their graciousness in going above and beyond on short notice.

In my opinion, this office is the epitome of disorganization. I was booked and rebooked thrice. First, because “Dr. Christopher is out of the office.” Fine. Second, I specifically asked for Thursday and agreed to drive 35 minutes to Oro Valley. They booked me for Monday anyway, because apparently calendars are just a vibe. So on Thursday, September 4, I make the 35-minute trek, only to be told, “No, you’re booked for Monday.” I explain (again) that I can’t do Mondays. Meanwhile, the front desk lady is too busy helping a colleague jump the line to schedule his wife from behind the counter. Professional. She eventually “fixes” it to Thursday, September 11 and even hands me an appointment card. I drive home and get a text confirming… Monday, September 8. I cancel that texted appointment, assuming the system just hadn’t caught up with my new Thursday slot. On the 11th, I show up with the appointment card in my hand, and the front desk insists I canceled “my appointment.” Several minutes pass... Me: “Show me what you’re looking at.” Her: turns the monitor “See? You canceled.” Me: “That’s the 8th. Today is the 11th. Different days.” Cue the back-and-forth sprints behind the desk. Then an MA appears: “Well, Dr. Christopher is booked. He wants you to see the mid-level provider.” Me: “No. You scheduled this mess, not me.” MA: “He already has 51 patients to see.” Me: “Then I guess I’ll just leave.” What a zoo! If the doctor actually told the MA to push me to a mid-level provider after their own scheduling fiasco, in my opinion, that’s even worse. Either way, the practice made the mistake and couldn’t be bothered to make it right.

The provider literally spent less than 5 minutes interacting with me to address my concerns. She spent more time cleaning the small tool that she used to check my skin than she did actually checking the spots with which I was concerned. When I asked about a particular procedure, I was referred to a specialist and was told they would be following up within a week. When I finally got the follow-up, I was told the specialist didn't accept my insurance. So I was referred to a different specialist WHO ALSO DIDN'T ACCEPT MY INSURANCE. The complete absence of any connection or care is, and should be, totally unacceptable. I felt that the doctor's attitude was that I was wasting her time with concerns that she couldn't be bothered to address.

I have been a patient of Dr. Robin Glaesser since September 2024. I have some serious dermatologic issues and I was terrified to even begin seeing a new dermatologist. My oncologist recommended Dr. Glaesser over all dermatologists so I had confidence in what an excellent doctor she is. What I didn't know was how approachable, kind, and compassionate she is. I've seen her many times now, and I am beyond thrilled! From the first visit, she made me feel comfortable and confident. Dr. Glaesser's examination are thorough and well communicated --- she does not rush her patients. She is an excellent doctor, and I feel very blessed to have found her.

I got to the office 10 minutes before my appointment time at 8:20am, filled out all my paperwork and it took me way too long to see my provider Dr. Glaesser. I had to ask the front desk to check on my provider and she responded that it was “only 8:28 am” as if I was wrong to ask for an update even after my scheduled appointment time passed. I finally got called to the back just to wait another 10 minutes in the back office. It’s ridiculous that if a patient is 10-20 minutes late then we get charged a fee and cant see the provider anymore but if a provider is 20+minutes late then its not a big deal. It’s frustrating because I planned this appointment in the morning so I could make it to work on time. The double standards are ridiculous, if my appointment time is 8:20am but not seeing my provider until 20 minutes after my start time is not good client service. After my provider came in at 8:40am the appointment ended in less than 10 minutes. It would be nice if the office/providers respected patients time the same way we are expected to show up early. My time with Dr. Glaesser took less than 10 minutes and the whole appointment time was wasted time just waiting to see my provider.

Had 2 MOHs procedures this week and Dr Cervantes and his assistants were fantastic in taking care of me. One cut both times, but more importantly, very friendly and informative, answering all the questions I had. I highly recommend Ironwood Dermatology. Having lived in Arizona for over 40 years, I definitely appreciate and value them.

This place is horrible. My daughter’s last appt. the staff not only required her to do multiple lab draws for no reason, the pharmacy who supplies her with accutane said they never got her script, but yet they approved her credit card and then… never sent her prescription. because its accutane, and the rx is only good for a week, she had to reschedule her entire appt, retake a pregnancy teat and pay another copay plus the cost of the pregnancy test, to get another prescription when this whole mishap was NOT her fault! Then… the doctor had a medical student with her and didn’t even ask permission from my daughter to get evaluated by the med student, and the doctor did not even introduce the med student to my daughter. then these doctors are all up in your face examining your skin without an introduction! so rude! so unprofessional! My daughter’s last appt, she canceled because the staff was NOT willing to help her with the mishap! She is now going to AVANT DERMATOLOGY, a much more professional practice!!!!!

I am very disappointed with the lack of follow-through for my biopsy results. I was told I would hear back in 7-10 business days, and 3 weeks later, still no call, so I called them. I was then told I needed an excision, and the medical assistant was extremely rude and impatient when I asked questions. At the end of the call, she said, "What else do you need to know?!" I would also like to add as a medical professional myself for over 15 years, I understand that clinics get busy, but keeping the patient informed within a timely manner is also very important.
