Worst Experience of My Life - Dangerous and Coercive Care If I could give zero stars, I would. My pregnancy was perfectly fine until I started my weekly visits at 36 weeks. That’s when everything went downhill. 36 Weeks: The nurse walked in and said, “We’re going to do a cervical exam and a GBS swab today,” as if it was already decided. I told her I wanted to wait on the GBS swab and that I didn’t want a cervical exam. Instead of respecting my decision, Dr. Schwartz stormed in without so much as a “hello” and demanded that I do the GBS swab because “It’s standard of care.” When I reiterated that I wanted to wait, she told me I’d have to sign an AMA form (which I was fine with) but then threatened, “Well, then I will just treat you.” She implied that she would give me antibiotics without my consent if I went into labor, then casually mentioned, “I haven’t had a baby die from GBS yet, but I had one come really close.” I couldn’t believe she was using fear tactics instead of information. It was clear she had no interest in my consent or choices. 37 Weeks: The visit was a blur—she walked in, said nothing more than what was necessary, and left just as quickly, like she couldn’t be bothered. 38 Weeks: I got the GBS swab done, and it hurt. It shouldn’t have hurt; it’s a simple swab. She again made a comment about hoping the results came back on time because of a close call with a baby dying. The constant fear-mongering was exhausting. 39 Weeks: Dr. Schwartz didn’t even pretend to care about my feelings or health. She announced that I would be induced if I wasn’t in labor by next week (41 weeks) because “Too many babies have died” and cited a recent case of a baby with meconium. There was no discussion, no explanation of risks, no alternatives like an ultrasound or non-stress test. She treated me like a child, dismissing my right to make any decisions about my own body. When we were leaving, she confronted my sister, who had accompanied me, and belittled her for giving me advice because she’d had a home birth. Dr. Schwartz sarcastically suggested that I should just have a home birth too if I was going to “decline everything.” I left feeling humiliated and scared for the safety of my baby in her care. This was supposed to be a beautiful, empowering experience, but Dr. Schwartz turned it into a nightmare. I was bullied into procedures, my autonomy was ignored, and I was made to feel like a bad mother simply for wanting to be informed and make my own choices. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. If you care about your right to make decisions and be respected in your pregnancy, stay far away from this practice.

I had to wait over an hour!!! I hate that!!! The workers in the office had an attitude which was very rude and unexpected because I had a big ass smile on my face after waiting for over an hour. So I really didn’t appreciate that.

Today was my initial ultrasound with the OB after seeing a fertility specialist and I'm not positive I will return to the office. Multiple receptionists were very unfriendly and not willing to help. I saw two assistants and a PA and Dr and I felt it was very rushed through my ultrasound with the doctors talking above me and not to me. When I did my first ultrasound with my specialist he was amazing and showed me the heart beat of my twins and arms and legs along wih them moving. Today was rushed, fast and really not very helpful. I did not love my experience here at the office. I did have one nice assistant that was very friendly because she too is having twins but other than that I did not get much from this experience.

My first pregnancy and I initially went to an OB office in arrowhead area while they were nice I didn't love it, so I came to the Tatum office to see Dr. Schwartz. She caught two things my other OB did not. She was knowledge and very experienced, but most important I really felt like she cared and made me feel a bit more comfortable with all these changes.

If you love hidden charges, being hit with unexpected bills, and waiting long amounts of time, this is the place to go. I normally see Julie Bergdale, but unfortunately I had the misfortune of getting stuck with Audrey Steincamp for my IUD placement. Julie is great, comforting, and helpful. Ive been seeing her for years and she would always explain everything to me so nothing was a surprise. When I talked to her about getting an IUD she went through all my options and explained the procedure. She told me to wait until my period started, I would then call right away and get the IUD placed. So when my period started and I called to get the IUD, Julie's schedule was booked and I had to take whomever was available or else have to wait longer (and not be on my period) to get the IUD. So I agreed to let someone else do the procedure. The procedure was very painful, but I already expected that from what Julie told me and my own research and talking to friends. After it was placed, Audrey told me to come back in several weeks and they would check to make sure everything is OK. I came back for that appointment, and Audrey took a look and said "hmmm, I can kind of see the strings but I'm not quite sure. Did you feel the IUD fall out?" I said no, I'm sure I would've felt something like that fall out. She said "I want to do an ultrasound just to make sure it's still there." It already took them a while to bring me back and for her to get into the room, so I asked how long it would take because I didn't feel it was necessary and I was getting close to being late for work. She said it would only take a few minutes. So I go into the ultrasound room, and shortly afterwards a man walked in. I thought she was going to do it or another woman. She never asked if I was ok with seeing a male, which I wasn't. He was very nice, but I was uncomfortable with this "surprise." He said it's still in there and I left feeling very uncomfortable and shocked that I wasn't even consulted if seeing a male was OK with me. I mean I've always seen women and they don't know if I've had prior experiences that make me feel anxious/uncomfortable with males being "down there." Then, to put the icing on the cake they send me a bill where I have to pay $100 out of pocket for the ultrasound so Audrey could have "piece of mind" that IUD was still there. Avoid this place if you value transparency and if you want to be someplace where they care for your wellbeing more than their pockets. I was in contact with the office manager about the charge and she didn't care. She hid behind some legal papers you sign at the visit. Literally she said I signed a " financial agreement included in your new patient paperwork." I've been a patient there since I was in my teens...so you know nothing was ever read. And even if I did read them I'm sure those documents don't state that you're going to pay for someone else's piece of mind.

I love, love, love Dr. DeSanto. I've been going to him since about 2007. He is patient, kind and very knowledgeable, plus his nurse Esther rocks! The staff at Camelback Women's health, including the NPs are very friendly and always do their best to make you feel comfortable. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I set an appointment over the phone to be at the Tatum location for a 1:30. Luckily I got there early for the less then pleased to be there front desk girl to inform me I'm at the wrong location....apparently my appointment is at the 32ndst far out of my way at 2. I wrote down my appointment as I scheduled, while they were giving me the details. Low and behold I check my book and my appointment said at Tatum 1:30. I guess new patients are not welcome at Tatum. The 32nd st location has way better customer service, so at the end of the day thank you for rescheduling my appointment without my knowledge at a better location.
