I came from New Mexico to have my surgery done by Dr Samimi, this was major surgery! I researched him and his qualifications, so I was confident in his abilities. He and his staff are fantastic! Everyone is pleasant, great to work with, caring and professional. A team that works very well together. Lisa, was SO patient with me, I was scared to death and bugged her all the time. Dr. Samimi did a phenomenal job reattaching my trapezius muscles after they tore apart from a previous surgery. I had a huge gaping internal hole that had me bedridden in severe pain for two years. And he used a pain ball that dramatically reduced my post surgery pain. He has had and continues to have great post surgery care to make sure I’m recovering well. And he did a great job sewing up my back and dramatically reducing the scar the previous surgeon left. I highly recommend Dr. Samimi!

My Semaglutide story While going in to Revivamed for botox, I saw a flyer about a weight loss medication and inquired. The nurse Jen, told me about it and that she herself had used semaglutide to lose weight. Having seen that my BMI was 1 point away from being in the ‘obese’ category was the freak out/wakeup call I needed. My auto immune disorder (rheumatoid arthritis) made it more urgent to do something about my weight. I was exercising (walking) and recently had started a dance class but the weight never seemed to come off. Dr. Kohani reviewed my bloodwork and approved. She is very thorough and requires a patient to submit new labs every 12 weeks. This reassured me that she was carefully monitoring my progress on the medication. Regina and Paola have been so kind, helpful and encouraging. Every week when I come in for the injection I feel like I have my own cheer squad! They note any side effects and gave me good tips on dealing with nausea (thanks for the ginger!) By the way, the needle is so tiny you can’t feel it. After being on semaglutide for 5 months I can honestly say it has changed my life for the better. Except for a short period (when I was smoking, and living in another country), I have struggled my entire life being overweight. I am not ashamed to say I did need to use this medication to educate myself about my relationship with food and to learn what ‘full’ meant. Full is not ‘stuffed’ or ‘uncomfortable’, it is simply being satisfied. Semaglutide has taught me that I don’t need as much as I thought I did. Growing up in a ‘clean plate’ culture where wasting food was not acceptable I have learned that is okay (and healthier) to leave food on the plate when I’m not hungry anymore. My portions have dramatically shrunk. I now think in terms of how much food does my body require… for me it’s usually a child sized portion. Now, I’m completely satisfied with a small piece of chocolate…and don’t feel the need for ‘just a little bit more’. Semaglutide is a tool, it is not a quick fix. You cannot eat 3 pieces of cheesecake and expect your body to be fine with that. This medication makes you listen to your body. Initially the nausea and heartburn were, at times, difficult. Ginger chews and herbal teas worked very well to ease my symptoms. Also, eating a light dinner early helped me to not feel overly full before bed. This improved my sleep. Nausea dissipated as my body got used to the dosage. Semaglutide may have side effects, but so does obesity. The benefits of dropping the excess weight are life changing. I am now taking 4 dance classes a week, plantar fasciitis has disappeared, even my rheumatologist said that weight loss will reduce inflammation in my body easing the rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. I recently went to the eye doctor and she told me that even my vision has improved because of healthy eating and exercise! Semaglutide has been a powerful catalyst. I am so grateful to Nurse Jen for sharing her personal experience (she gave me permission to share) and to Dr. Kohani for guiding me in my weight loss journey. Thanks Revivamed!
