⭐ One star because zero isn’t an option. Marina OB/GYN was by far the worst medical experience I’ve ever had. I scheduled an appointment with a gynecologist, but was instead seen by a nurse midwife (Josefina Clark). That should have been the first red flag. During my initial visit on January 30, she asked questions but never performed a physical exam—if I hadn’t specifically requested a Pap smear, she wouldn’t have done anything. I literally had to guide her through the visit. I asked for fertility-supporting medication and she completely refused. I had to suggest Metformin myself, and even then, she reluctantly gave me the prescription, in a rude and dismissive manner. I eventually became pregnant—but not because of Marina OB/GYN. I had to purchase the medication in Mexico, on my own. When I returned already pregnant, Josefina acted like it was thanks to her “advice.” Completely absurd. Then came the worst part. On June 3, I started pregnancy follow-up. The first ultrasound showed nothing because it was still early. I was told to return in 3 weeks. On June 18, I was seen by Alexandra Aguirre, who told me I was likely experiencing a missed miscarriage. Blood was drawn to check HCG levels, and I was instructed to come back in two days for another draw. On June 20, I returned. They only drew blood—no exam, no doctor, nothing. I asked if I’d be seen, and the assistant said, very bluntly, “No, it’s just for labs.” That was the last time I went. It’s now been nearly a month and my lab results are STILL not available in the portal. I’ve called many times and have been treated with rudeness, no compassion, and no answers. Every time, I’m told, “We’ll call you.” They never did. And here’s the final insult: I reviewed the insurance claims, and not only did they bill for the bloodwork, they fraudulently charged a copay for a consultation with Josefina Clark on June 20—a consultation that never happened. That is insurance fraud. No results. No follow-up. No care. And now fraudulent billing. Marina OB/GYN is unprofessional, unethical, and unsafe. Switching clinics was the best decision I made. Do not go here. This place is a risk to your health and a scam for your money.

Finally have time to come here and state how I feel. There is no direct phone number to the clinic. You have to speak to a call center who relays messages to the clinic but they NEVER call you back nor do they respond to their online portal messages. I did my NIPT and never received a call when my results were ready. I called multiple times in the span of two weeks and they never called back. Kaiser requested my records after I switched insurances and I put in the request as well and never received any records. And guess what, when you call in to follow up, no one called back. Don’t come here if you expect communication with your doctor/midwife, they won’t ever get back to you.

I am writing to share my recent experience with Marina OB/GYN, particularly my appointment at the Southgate office, in hopes of shedding light on the challenges I’ve faced as a first-time mother seeking quality, supportive care. During my scheduled appointment with Alexandra Aguirre, I was supposed to receive my Tdap vaccination and follow up on a glucose test. I had also submitted important labor and delivery questions through the patient portal, but was informed during the visit that staff no longer check those messages. Unfortunately, my phone had been damaged en route, so I wasn’t able to access the uploaded document. Despite that, I did my best to recall my questions verbally during the appointment. When I later called my mother for support, I asked the passing nurse to bring Alexandra back to the room so I could continue the conversation. At that point, she returned with someone who introduced herself as the “Southgate manager.” They both provided some guidance about labor and delivery, and I appreciated that clarification at the time. However, I became distracted and forgot to follow up on the Tdap vaccine during the visit. After realizing this while en route home (via LA Care’s Call the Car transportation), I called the number listed on Marina OB/GYN’s website. I was transferred to the Southgate office, where I again spoke to the same manager. I expressed my concern about not receiving the vaccination and shared my overall concern about disorganization during my appointment. Without my asking, she stated that she would look for a different OB/GYN for me, citing that I “always seem frustrated” when visiting the office. This was the first time I had ever visited the Southgate location, and the first time meeting this individual who identified herself as the “South Gate manager”. At no point did I ask to change providers, and I felt that decision was prematurely and unfairly made on my behalf. When I calmly asked if my mother could get on the phone to help clarify the situation, I was told, “You’re a full-grown adult at 25. I don’t have to speak to your mother.” While I understand privacy laws, my intention was not to undermine that—it was simply a request for support during a stressful and emotional time. I explained that I don’t have many people to accompany me to appointments and that my mother, though not local, has been one of my biggest supports through this pregnancy. As a young mother doing her best to advocate for herself and her child, I felt dismissed and spoken to with hostility. I was not disrespectful at any point and simply wanted to reschedule the vaccination I had missed due to an oversight. I recognize that healthcare professionals have tough jobs and long days. However, the level of care, compassion, and communication I received was disheartening. My goal is not to escalate this into a legal matter, but to raise awareness of how vulnerable patients—especially younger, first-time mothers—can feel unsupported when they are not treated with understanding and professionalism. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope my experience can help improve communication and care for other patients in the future.

The doctors are great but if you are pregnant and need an assistance with your EDD Jennifer and Cynthia (person in charge) is no help they are extremely rude, and belittle you. As a woman's clinic there should be compassion and they do not give any of that. This clinic is very unorganized if you can avoid going please do

I recently accompanied my girlfriend to an appointment at Marina OB/GYN, and we were fortunate to be assisted by Josie Clark. From the moment we met her, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. One of the standout qualities Josie possesses is her bilingual ability in both English and Spanish, which made a world of difference for my girlfriend, who is more comfortable speaking Spanish. Josie effortlessly communicated in both languages, ensuring we fully understood every aspect of the appointment and treatment plan. Her professionalism was immediately apparent, but what truly set her apart was her patience and kindness. She took the time to explain each step of the process in detail, answering all of our questions without ever making us feel rushed. Josie’s ability to break down complex medical information in a clear and approachable way made the entire experience much less daunting. In addition to her excellent communication skills, Josie’s warmth and compassion shone through. She genuinely cared about our comfort and well-being, and it was clear she is deeply dedicated to providing top-tier patient care. Whether it was explaining medical procedures or just making sure we were at ease, Josie went out of her way to make us feel valued and supported. If you’re looking for someone who is not only highly professional but also incredibly personable, Josie Clark is the one to see. Her bilingual skills in Spanish make her a standout for those who prefer or need communication in both languages. We left the appointment feeling informed, reassured, and well cared for. Thanks entirely to Josie’s exceptional service.

ON BEHALF OF MY PARTNER: Communication between Doctor and patient is extremely limited. They refuse to have the doctor go over test results within a timely matter. Their rating on Better Business Bureau is an F and makes sense. Choose another practice if you want a business that cares.

This is the worst clinic ever! A family member who doesn’t speak English was sent here for the biopsy test. All her medical records, all the doctors and clinics she went to before accommodated her by providing a translator on the phone when she had an appointment, but not in this clinic. Right before she was let in for the doctor to see her, the NP came out to the hallway to advise my family member who doesn’t speak English that she needs to contact her insurance and tell them to give her a translator when she is seen at this clinic. Basically, telling her, she needs to accommodate herself. In the room with the doctor, she addressed this with the doctor, in her broken English she told the doctor that the other clinics have been accommodating her inability to communicate in English, but this clinic, and that she can’t call the insurance for accommodation because she doesn’t speak English. The doctor said they will accommodate her. When her appointment came for the biopsy results, they sent the link for telehealth connection to me, not to my family member. I logged in and waited for 15 min. I called the clinic to follow up, but was placed on hold, meanwhile, the doctor calls my family member, talks to her for 3 min (literally, we have the screenshot of the call) and tells her that in order to know the results of her biopsy, she needs to find a translator. I am the authorized person to speak to (we completed multiple forms about it with the clinic), so when my family member asked the doctor to speak to me, she was told, its not allowed, they won’t release the confidential. After a long back and forward, I was able to reach out to the office and was advised that the doctor would call me somewhere between 8:00 am – 3:00 pm on the next day, because the appointment is passed. Is this a jock or what? To be continued…..

I received a text message the night before my appointment stating that they made my first appointment with someone by the name of Josefina Clark aka Josie. I had to look that up as it’s not whom I made my appointment with and discovered she is a nurse and midwife. I have endometriosis, am barren and am possibly experiencing perimenopausal symptoms. This is extremely insensitive so I won’t waste my time going here as there is nothing this woman can do for me! I made an appointment to see Dr. Jamie Lipeles as it seems he might have been a good fit for me but I guess we will never know. NEXT! Also I would like to add that I am unable to cancel my appointment via text as it says it’s to close to my appointment and I can’t leave a voice message because it’s full.
