My wife had an appointment here as a follow up to MOHS procedure. We ended up having to wait 40 minutes past her appointment time because the receptionist said they were backed up and running late. Come to find out, they had a patient that had an appointment after ours come in early and they went ahead and treated them, causing us to have to wait. Poor service and customer management, except for the person that came in early I guess…

Joanna seemed knowledgeable but we were never told that the appointment needed to be 15 minutes. After 15 minutes when I tried to ask another question, I was told I was not allowed to because time was up. Unfortunately everything felt very rushed so that overshadowed the entire experience

This was the best experience I’ve ever had at a dermatology clinic. Dr. Gamba was very comforting, professional and informative. The appointment was timely and Dr. Gamba shared information with me relating to my concerns that no one has spent the time to do before. If you want quality and detailed care - this is the place to go.

Dr Simmons seems to take it as a personal affront if you have questions about your diagnosis. They treat trying to get your skin checked for skin cancer as if you are trying to score opiates and get frustrated if you ask about it during an ordinary appointment. They are booking 7 to 8 months out for skin cancer screening. There is no personal connection after going here for over 5 years. The overall feel is arrogant, smug, and as though they could all care less about you. I don’t trust them to care enough to do a thorough check anymore. Oddly they seem to be operating from some sense that their patients are continually trying to get one over on them which leaves one feeling confused and defensive when there is no reason for it.

Very perfunctory service, no personal connection. It was my second visit after a referral from my family doctor and I was scheduled to have some precancerous cells removed. I erroneously entered the appointment in my calendar and showed up 15 minutes late. Receptionist gave a curt statement that I was marked no show and owed $75. Also, that I must pay the fee before rescheduling. I stated the time I thought the appointment was scheduled for and she replied I can review your text message reminder. No display of understanding or empathy of any kind - just business. I paid the fee and declined scheduling another appointment.

This was my first time visiting a Dermatologist. I felt like I was rushed to be gone after they took three biopsies and pretty much gave me no information even after my questions. A “summary” of what they did would have been accommodating. They gave me “after”instructions. (Three biopsies and no compassion after mentioning “cancer”). I was told I would get “results” after (about a week). It took me approximately 40 minutes to get to this appointment. So I had to drive home afterwards feeling stressed and anxious. I just think they could be more compassionate and caring.

Colorado Dermatology Specialists is just a money grab. Went in for annual visit and was told I needed many biopsies, but they could only do 4 on that day. After voicing concern, I allowed Dr. Christina Gamba to take the biopsies. She also palpitated under arms and drew concern to lymph node lump. She forced scheduling with Alpine in Boulder for CT scan. She also said I needed a face peel????? After thinking about the appointment and proceedings, I was very uncomfortable with this diagnosis and got second opinion. Doctor there asked for pathology on the 4 biopsies, palpitated saying the lump was not in right area for lymph nodes and said the peel was ridiculous. Pathology on 4 biopsies - 2 negative, 1 surface nodules that should have just been frozen and small basal on nose. So basically the biopsies just built patient fear. On the lymph node scare, my second opinion doctor because of the diagnosis of Gamba, was obligated to send me in for CT Scan. Of course all came back negative with just a fat nodule - so out that money. Second Dr. did an full skin scan and did small Mohs procedure on the one small basal on my nose. No other biopsies were indicated. So, my feeling after dealing with Colorado Dermatology Specialists is the are a struggling business looking to propagate fear in patients to do un-needed procedures. Please read the reviews and heed the warning signs.

Just wanna give a shout out to Joanna Baskett PA-C for the experience as a first time patient. Joanna Baskett PA performed a professional job and a thorough exam from head to toe and ask questions and explain what she came across, during the exam. She used a magnifying glass and took care to examine and biopsy areas of concern. Her assistance, Sue, was professional in recording the information on IPad. Both providers made me feel very welcome with their bedside manner. Office & exam room or clean and they followed Covid protocols. Big bowl of Hershey Nuggets chocolate candy was a welcoming site as I exited my appointment in the lobby!!
