As a bride-to-be, I visited Zinc Spa for manicures and pedicures with my bridal party the day before my wedding. The facility was not very clean and the staff, including the owner, were complaining about clients in front of our party. The owner was not subtle about wanting to rush us out and as a result, did not offer those in party unfamiliar with the different types of manicures the many options, opting only for the quickest. Disappointing that both my mother and mother-in-law had smudges in their polish before we even left the salon. To top it off, the salon added a mandatory gratuity of over 20%; tips that did not even begin to reflect the quality of the services we received. I will never go back and have and will continue to advise against those asking for recommendations in the area.

I was lucky to go to the Zinc spa on October 4. I got a facial, massage and pedicure. I was amazed at the service I got. It took close to 4 hours. Brittany did my facial and pedicure and was thoughtful, through and great. Almost two weeks later my nails are perfect and my skin glows. Shawna's massage was something else. She has a great deal of knowledge about alternative therapies and shared them generously with me. Plus my body was truly aching and in addition to the Swedish massage, she happily showed me how to do the lymph massage. The highlight was the polarity work she did on my body - I came out a brand new person! The best part was that I felt like I belonged and was taken care of. I would go there again and again.

I visited Zinc once last fall using a Groupon and will be unlikely to go back. Basically, I think the mandatory 20% "tip" is offensive. If you look at their website, the tip is assessed on spa "packages". To me, a basic manicure & pedicure is not a spa package. I think a mandatory tip is wrong, in all cases, but especially when I didn't have a spa package. I had a very basic mani/pedi. If they do a lousy job, you have no recourse regarding the tip. If they are that concerned with their tip, then management should increase their prices. A tip is supposed to be voluntary. This was not. There are a number of reviews on another site saying that people shouldn't be complaining about paying a tip, i.e. the employees deserve to be paid. Please understand-- this is not about paying a tip. It is about being FORCED to pay a tip, which by default is no longer really a tip. 18% "tip" for a mediocre manicure is wrong. And speaking of the manicure, it was adequate, but I'm not honestly sure that it was any better than the Asian places. In fact, I got less on the basic package-- no hand/arm massage, no lotion, no hot stones. I get all those at my local place and the manicure costs a few dollars less. I also felt that they had didn't have many nail colors to choose from. I liked that the colors were grouped by color family, but the selection looked skimpy and a lot of the bottles looked old. The polish didn't last any longer than your typical $10-12 manicure, so there is no reason to choose Zinc over your local walk-in place. On the plus side, I liked the "manicure bar" idea, so if you went with a group or friends, or did a birthday party there, the guests would be side by side, rather than spread out at different stations. (But based on a prior review, don't book the appointments together as a group, if you have any gift certificates or discounts, as you won't be able to use them all.) Sounds to me as if the owner is more interested in how much money she can earn from each transaction, than she is in creating a great salon experience that makes clients want to come back. I read another recent review where a customer tried to pay for a massage using a gift card and was told that she couldn't use the gift certificate for a service that was "on special that month." That is totally nuts and probably illegal. A gift certificate is the same as money. What you spend it on is up to you. Be sure to read all the reviews before making a decision on Zinc. The reviews from 2010 onward seem to hover around poor-fair, which says to me that this is a salon going the wrong way, with an owner who doesn't understand the use of social media and isn't addressing client concerns at all. If I saw comment after comment that the place seemed messy, the staff unprofessional, the tip policy absurd, etc. I would do something about it, if it were my business.

I've been coming here for over a year now and am very sad to be leaving it when I move this week. Always kind and relaxing service from the gals at the nail bar - they know when you'd like to chat or when you are just relaxing. I like the bar aspect because you can chat with your neighbors. They have lots of advice on how to care for your nails as well, so you are never just getting a manicure, you are leaving knowing how to take care of them. I never felt like I was being pushed to buy certain products, though, which is great! I love this place!

I went to Zinc a few weeks ago as a walk-in appointment, little did I know I needed an appointment! This place is always buzzing with business and has such a great atmosphere. The owner was understanding and she moved some things around on the schedule to make some time for me to be seen. So easy to have conversation with anyone of the employees that you're with, none of that typical "small talk" like other nail salons. I was going to the other nail salon just down the street, but from now on, I will be going to Zinc because I didn't feel like just another number/customer to them

I bought a Groupon for a mani-pedi package here, as did my friend. We tried to book appointments together (because who wants to get their nails done alone?) and they absolutely refused to book two Groupon appointments together. The woman on the phone was course and snippy with me and couldn't understand why I was angry. I explained that we were separate parties with separate Groupons, but they would not let us get our nails done together. Complete waste of money.

First let me say that the online discounted packages doesn't matter. I was told that certain services and the light spa menu wasn't included bc the online price was discounted. I had a 1:30 appointment and when I first got there I was told that they over booked. My services didn't start until 2 pm. This was a 3-4 hour appointment. I had facial, which was awesome, body wrap and massage. I opted out of the mani & pedi because I had already had one. I simply exchanged a 2 hr mani and pedi for a 1 hr massage. Roshni (the owner) told me that I would be charged an additional 15 dollars . Between my services they offered food bc the massage therapist was running a half hr behind so while I waited I got a bite to eat which they ordered from a pizza shop next door. When the massage therapist was done with his prev client. I felt rushed to finish my food only to lay flat on my stomach for an hour. Plus the massage wasn't great. When checking out I was charged 10$ for sub that is usually 5-7 bucks and extra fees bc I opted out of getting my nails done. Then I got a call back from Roshni stating that she forgot to charge for me extra later on that night. Alex was amazing and so pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately she doesn't own the place I would go back.

My daughter and I are from Plymouth Ma. We planned a day of shopping at the Wrentham outlets. We wanted to pamper ourselves to a mani and a pedi in the area. I found Zinc spa and decided to make an appointment for us. IM SO GLAD I researched and found this place. WE LOVED IT. The people were so friendly and the atmosphere was incredible. I have been to several Spa's and this one is on the bottom list. I didn't receive my full hour as paid for. The place was not that clean and there was nothing inviting about it. I wouldn't by the Groupon nor I would I return.
