Acne is one of the most common skin conditions worldwide. It can affect anyone but is most common in adolescent population. It is also fairly common in adults. Severe acne can leave permanent scarring. We can customize treatment of acne for each individual. We treat acne with oral and topical medications, chemical peels, lasers and light devices. There are multiple lasers that can be used to treat acne scars.Depending upon the color, texture and age of acne scars, several different lasers can be used to improve scars. There is no treatment available at the present time that can remove the scars completely, but they can be improved.

Skintique is a division of the Skin and Laser Surgery Center of New England. Patricia Pischetola is a licensed esthetician working under the direct supervision of Dr. Khatri. Our aesthetic and cosmetic program includes skin consultations, facials, chemical peels, and an excellent selection of anti-aging products including retinol therapy.We feature physician-only skin care products to treat every skin type and condition. We offer several laser treatments to treat brown spots. Flat brown spots can be treated with an Nd:YAG or Alexandrite laser. There is no need of anesthesia in most cases and it takes few days to heal after the treatment. Raised brown spots/growths are removed with ablative resurfacing lasers, i.e. CO2 or Erbium:YAG laser. We have a unique laser device called DermaSculptTM that has a very tiny laser beam that can remove very small and minute growths without causing any peripheral damage.

First used in the 1970s to treat involuntary eyelid spasms, Botox became a household name after it was approved by the FDA to treat facial wrinkles in 2002. Since then, Botox injections (and to a far lesser degree competing brands Dysport and Xeomin) have been the most popular cosmetic procedure year in and year out worldwide.Dr. Khatri and the team at Skin & Laser Surgery Center of New England use Botox/Dysport to eliminate wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes, and between the brows.

There are several devices that can improve the appearance of Cellulite. There is no treatment available at the present time that can remove the Cellulite completely, but it can be improved. We have several devices that have a combination of lasers, light sources, radio-frequency, massage, suction, etc that can improve Cellulite. The procedure usually feels like massage and it is performed once or twice a week for about 8-12 session.

Chemical Peels are used to improve the effects of aging, acne, mild acne scars, pregnancy mask (Melasma) and sun damage. We use superficial and medium depth peels. There is no down time with superficial peels and it takes about 15 minutes to do a peel. We recommend a series of 6 superficial peels, one every 2-3 weeks.

Using injectables to address facial wrinkles and creases isn't a new idea. For hundreds of years, humans have injected various substances under their skin to combat wrinkles, with varying degrees of success...and safety. But there was a great change in 2002 when the FDA did approve Botox for the treatment of wrinkles on the upper third of the face. Following Botox was the introduction of the first dermal filler, Restylane®, in 2006.Dr. Khatri offers the popular dermal filler families of Juvederm® and Restylane®, along with Radiesse® and other filler options.

Long-term use of heavy earrings or trauma can lead to stretched earring holes. Trauma can also cause tearing of the earlobes. Dr. Khatri uses surgical techniques, sometimes combined with laser procedures to repair stretched and/or torn earlobes. Results are satisfactory and if patients desire, they can re-pierce their earlobes.

The BTL Vanquish METM (Maximum Energy) is a non-invasive technology to reduce stubborn fat pockets around the midsection. Like its predecessor, BTL Vanquish METM device creates a high-frequency energy field that precisely targets the thermal effects into the fat layer while protecting surrounding skin tissue. Vanquish destroys your unwanted fat cells over the course of about four to six treatment sessions.

This procedure can also be combined with laser skin resurfacing to treat lines under and around the eyes.

Laser Hair Removal is one of the most commonly performed laser procedure in the world. It can give very long term hair removal. We offer several lasers and lights based devices for hair removal. It takes multiple sessions to achieve the best results and can be performed without any anesthesia or just with topical anesthesia. Treatments are usually performed about 4-6 weeks apart.

WHAT IS LASER SKIN RESURFACING?Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure that's the gold standard to reverse the signs of aging in a non-surgical way. It can be used to tighten the skin but there are other non-invasive lasers and radio-frequency devices that can be used to make the skin tighter.Laser skin resurfacing can be used to improve the signs of aging in the top and bottom layer of the skin. It can remove brown spots, precancerous spots, fine and deep lines, acne scars, other scars, acne. It is a procedure that is used skin tightening. It can also be used to remove benign moles and other growths. With a new drug delivery and laser skin resurfacing combinations, many chronic skin conditions and diseases can also be treated.

Melasma is a common skin condition that causes brown and grey-brown patches to form on the patient's face. Also known as "the mask of pregnancy," the exact causes of melasma are not fully understood, but sun exposure, hormonal fluctuations, pregnancy, birth control medications, some other medications and the use of harsh cosmetics play a role.At Skin & Laser Surgery Center of New England, Dr. Khatri uses a combination of laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and skin bleaching medication to treat melasma.WHAT IS MELASMA?Melasma is a common condition where the color-making cells in the skin, melanocytes, produce too much color, creating patches of darker skin. Although it can develop on other areas of the body that receive a lot of sun exposure, most patients get melasma on their cheeks, nose, forehead, chin, and above the upper lip.Women are far more likely to develop melasma than men. It is also relatively more common an darker skin people. Another term, chloasma, is sometimes used to describe melasma that occurs during pregnancy.

This is a combination of laser resurfacing and chemical bleaching agents. It does not need injection anesthesia and can be done with anesthetic creams and is relatively painless and has very little downtime.

Micropigmentation is more commonly known as permanent makeup. This is the process involved in inserting colored pigments just beneath the skin's surface. Permanent makeup can give the patient more attractive eyebrows, eyelids, and lips. Benign growths and moles can be removed surgically, with Cryo-therapy using liquid nitrogen or with Lasers. Most of the time we use a combination of these modalities to achieve the best results. Smaller growths can be removed without anesthesia but some larger growths may need local anesthesia. One of the ways we do this is with PRP. PRP is suitable for both men and women and is a state of the art alternative procedure we use for hair loss or hair thinning.WHAT IS PRP?PRP is the term used to describe platelet-rich plasma, a blood product that, because it comes from the patient's own body, does not raise concerns about potential side effects or adverse reaction. Platelet-rich plasma is valuable to healing and dermal regeneration because this activated, autologous serum releases growth factors and other healing molecules into the dermal tissue that has begun to show the signs of aging or skin damage.

Rosacea is like acne, it can cause bumps and broken capillaries/redness on the face. It can be treated with oral and topical antibiotics, however, these treatment do not treat the broken capillaries/redness. We have several lasers that are used to treat broken capillaries/redness, including Pulsed Dye Laser (VBeam) and VRaser.

Depending upon the color, texture and age of the scar, several different lasers can be used to improve scars. There is no treatment available at the present time that can remove the scars completely, but they can be improved. If the scars are red and/or raised we treat them with Pulsed Dye Laser, if they are old and white, we treat them with Fractional lasers and if they are bulky, they can be treated with ablative resurfacing lasers, i.e. CO2 or Erbium:YAG laser.

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to treat varicose and spider veins, typically found on the legs. Many of us develop unsightly veins on our legs. Skin & Laser Surgery Center of New England offer both laser and Sclerotherapy for leg vein removal. We carry many lasers that can be used to treat leg veins, but Dr. Khatri prefers to use Sclerotherapy first, as it is most effective.

The incidence of skin cancer has risen in past few years. We treat all types of skin cancers including Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma and the most serious kind of skin cancer, Malignant Melanoma. Some skin cancers can be treated non-surgically but most require surgery. We perform skin cancer surgeries almost every day, weather it is treating a small pre-cancerous spot or a large skin cancer on the face requiring a skin flap or graft. All skin surgeries are performed at our facility under local anesthesia.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing is the newest technology that Dr. Khatri helped to develop in collaboration of Wellman Laboratories of Photo-medicine/Harvard Medical School and Palomar Medical Technologies. It can effectively treat wrinkles, acne scars, Melasma and other signs of photo-aging with minimum or no downtime. We use Lux1540 laser device for Fractional Laser Resurfacing.

Laser Skin Resurfacing can be used to tighten the skin but there are other non-invasive lasers and radio-frequency devices that can be used to make the skin tighter. Laser liposuction is also used to makes skin tighter especially on the neck for jowls and double chin. We have several laser and radio-frequency devices that we use as stand-alone skin tightening procedures or in combination with liposuction.

Stretch marks are long, narrow streaks or lines that show themselves on the skin and are a different hue than the surrounding skin.Men and women can both develop stretch marks, but they are most common after pregnancy. Hardly anyone is immune - around 90 percent of women develop stretch marks after their sixth or seventh month of pregnancy. While it's nearly impossible to fully get rid of your stretch marks at the Skin & Laser Surgery Center of New England our treatments make stretch marks far less visible.

As the number of tattoos increased in the world, the number of people who desire tattoo removal has also increased. We offer several lasers for tattoo removal including Nd:YAG and Alexandrite lasers. Laser energy targets the ink particles and breaks them into smaller fragments and it is believed that the immune system clears these ink particles. It takes multiple treatments to achieve the best possible results. Black and blue colors are relatively easy to remove where as green is very difficult. Most small tattoos can be treated without anesthesia however larger and multi-color tattoos may need topical or local anesthesia.

Women are becoming more bold and confident in speaking our about their bodies and complaints. Dr. Khatri of Skin & Laser Surgery Center of New England offers many procedures in improving a woman's confidence and sexual pleasure, including vaginal rejuvenation and labiaplasty. Though both of them focus on a woman's intimate parts, they target different areas. Vaginal Rejuvenation is able to tighten the opening of the vagina and the vaginal canal, while labiaplasty sculpts and/or reshapes the labia.

Dr. Khatri is one of the leading experts in the world on Laser Skin Resurfacing (LSR). While at Harvard during his fellowship, he conducted the first ever study to compare CO2 and Erbium:YAG lasers in a split face study. Laser Skin Resurfacing is used to treat wrinkles, acne scars and other effects of aging.
