Response to Sandra's (Owner's) Message Just FYI for everyone - this place thinks "I believe" I had a reaction. I sent them all the photos of the bruised and burnt skin. It has not healed in weeks. They insisted I come in to the store to inspect in person , which I did. In spite of that they have the audacity to say I "believe" there was a reaction. This shows how sensitive they are to their customers. If they really care about the customer service, then refund me my money. Do they really think I would come back to this place for waxing after the experience I've had. This should tell people how this place cares about their customers. I have been requesting them for a refund but they kept telling me no and "do whatever you need to" which has forced me to put this review. If you need anymore evidence, checkout other reviews on Yelp and Google about this place. Each time a customer has not had a good experience, instead of accepting and fixing it, they have instead framed the customer as being wrong. ------------------------ Original Review Be very careful if you're considering laser hair removal at this place. I am beyond disappointed and furious with my laser hair removal experience at Dare to Be Bare in Hartsdale! I went in for a laser hair removal treatment that left me with severe burns and discoloration--weeks later, I'm still healing, both physically and emotionally. The technician never fully explained the potential risks or complications and instead kept assuring me that the treatment was safe and effective for my skin type, claiming most clients see little to no hair regrowth after completing their sessions. During the treatment, I experienced intense burning and pain, which I voiced immediately. I was told, "Your skin doesn't feel hot, so you're fine." That couldn't have been more wrong. I followed all aftercare instructions as provided, but just days later, my skin turned very dark and visibly burned. When I reached out to the owner to request a refund, not only did she dismissed my injuries, but she also refused to take any accountability. I received zero support, no empathy, and no refund--just a cold response that this was a "normal skin reaction" and I should have read the contract. I trusted this place with my skin and relied on their professional guidance. Instead, I was left with lasting damage and no sense of responsibility from their side. I do not recommend Dare To Be Bare in Hartsdale to anyone. Please do your homework before undergoing any laser treatments. Ask questions, understand the risks, and don't just take someone's word for it.

I came here to get laser hair removal and overall I felt like the staff was a bit condescending and rude. I was uncomfortable every time I came to get my appointment but they did the job and I didn't experience any physical harm. Opted to get my own at home laser hair removal machine after my initial set of appointments.

Dare to Bare is the best laser hair removal spa. I started with them in Eastchester and am back with them in Hartsdale after many years. So professional, so clean, so welcoming. So glad I came back. Sandy, one of the owners, is my tech this time around and she is AMAZING! Highly recommend this place.

Nowhere in the Groupon description does it say that you need an appointment in ordered to be serviced. Front desk refused to accommodate & was very unhelpful at trying to resolve the issue. Although I expressed my time constraints. What it seems is they’re not POC friendly according to the current google reviews. I’ll be sure to report to the BBB. Update: I did call the BBB & waiting to hear back. Stating an appointment is needed may not be necessary to you but useful to consumers like myself who traveled out of their way. Your front desk stated that your wax machine was turned off but you were with a client when I came in so was it really? Assuming how you came out to the front & didn’t greet nor apologize aligns with my original review & hope you can be a better business owner with no bias. Well wishes.

Was told my skin is too dark then was shown and told this is a graft of “acceptable skin tones”. 6 photos of white woman and white woman with tans. Immediately it made me feel like I was living in a segregated era. It situation was deplorable, extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. Based on this alone I would urge anyone with empathy to not spend money in this establishment. I had to come back and edit my review as the owner or people responding on behalf of the owners are untruthful. To add additional content I was not greeted when I entered the tight spaced center/business. I was told not to fill out forms anymore and brought to a room. Immediately being told they require consults. The area I wanted treated was never even evaluated. I also called this business a week in advance before purchasing bundle deal online to confirm them can do treatment. When I walked in the right spaced room The receptionist immediately opened a cabinet showing me the chart of what an acceptable skin tone is(photos of white women some with tans). Then began Rampling about how the owners were lied to about the machine they purchased and the machine they had it “wasn’t for everyone”. She began pointing at the pictures on her graph showing me what is allowed (white or pale skin). Which concluded that The color of my skin did not meet there criteria. It was so unpleasant. I’ve never in my life experienced anything like this. I felt humiliated. The look on my face explained it all. The receptionist then said she can refer me to another place to treat me. In my mind, I was screaming absolutely not. I simply replied no I’ll continue going to my usual spa. The part I should of added was (usual location) they don’t discriminate.

This place has a woman with a nasty attitude who does not know how to talk with clients. She called me and screamed at me on the phone just because I missed my appointment. They do not call a day before to confirm appointments and just call a day after to say that will take a session off of your packet. I bought it from Groupon and that does not mean that you can treat people like that. Find another job where you can stay in a quiet room without interaction with clients because this position is not for you. I still have more sessions, but I would prefer to lose all my money instead of coming back to this place.

I bought a package here but didn't notice much in terms of results. I kept going despite it being extremely uncomfortable until one session burned my bikini area so much that I couldn't walk well for two days. I was told that I was "too dark" by the technician and that the laser couldn't pick up on my skin tone well enough to get better results. I found it to be quite racist and insulting considering I was the same skin tone when I was sold these sessions. Why wasn't I informed of the issue before wasting money? I later went to Satori laser in White Plains and just completed treatment for bikini/face with good results and much less pain. They were surprised to hear that I was considered "too dark." For reference, my foundation shade is 15N in Makeup by Mario. You tell me if that is "too dark."
