I’ve come to this practice about five times for electrolysis treatment. The service itself was always nice and Kathleen and Isabella were both very sweet and welcoming every visit. The only issue I’ve had is the insecurity that followed my journey. The only reason I started electrolysis was because of a horrible reaction to laser hair removal on my neck two years ago. I originally only had a few hairs, but after that laser treatment, I ended up with much more hair than I started with. I decided to switch to electrolysis since I understood it to be the only permanent solution. Even though it was painful, I kept going because I didn’t want to continue feeling insecure about the hair. However, after five treatments at Zapster, I decided to stop due to the terrible scarring it left behind. It’s really embarrassing and I now have to use concealer all over my neck area every time I leave the house. Not only am I still dealing with excessive hair growth, but also very dark and visible marks all over my neck. I’ve spoken to other women with similar skin tones to mine who have not experienced this kind of hyperpigmentation, which makes me feel that more care could have been taken for darker skin types. I even convinced my mom to try electrolysis here, and after just one appointment, she was also left with scarring and chose not to continue. I’m sharing this so others, especially those with darker complexions like mine, can be aware and make sure to find a practice that truly specializes in treating our skin safely and carefully

I would not recommend if you are looking for long lasting and sustained results. I had electrolysis with Isabelle/a and not only was she slow and dismissive of hairs that were very obvious and dark, but the regrowth is still quite high. I have had electrology MANY times by many practitioners and this is not a service that I felt was worth my time and the pain. I would keep on looking for a more adept practitioner in Philly or even nearby.

Isabella is great. I have been going to her for a few months, and I like the way my annoying hair growths have been responding to her treatments. I go to have my face treated for a couple small patches of hormonal hair growth I have (upper lip mostly, and some on my chin). I still have a couple of stubborn hairs I’m working on, but I’m seeing progress! Before coming to Isabella, I was being treated by someone else in Pittsburgh when I lived there. And I’ve also tried a place out in Portland, OR. So at this point, I have a few different experiences under my belt to compare. Isabella has been the best. She is very knowledgeable on the science of hair growth and the treatments she offers. While I’m not trans myself, it’s noteworthy that she is also very passionate about transgender care. She has a new space and it’s really great… a lot more spacious than the old location. It’s clean and cozy (or as cozy as you can be while getting zapped, haha).

I have had A LOT of electrology, both good and bad and Kathleen is one of the best practitioners I've ever seen. She actually TREATS you hair follicle and doesn't pull the hair out before it's treated. This is how electrology is supposed to be done yet so many fail to even meet this standard. I travel to see Kathleen from NYC because I can guarantee that I will be seeing a competent electrologist. I really recommend her especially for anyone who is seeking RESULTS. I'm excited to finish up my hair removal journey with her.

Everything felt really genuine compared to the spa-like places I’d been to in the past for laser. She very clearly sets expectations and I respect and appreciate that so much. My first electrolysis session was with Kathy. She was quick and efficient during my electrolysis session. She was personable the whole time and made me feel comfortable while being zapped.
