While accompanying my wife to Dr. Schmidt’s office for an ultrasound related to her PCOS diagnosis, we had a very upsetting experience. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was rude and unwelcoming, with no effort made to provide basic customer service. When my wife was taken back for the ultrasound, the staff member asked what was going on, but responded in a dismissive and judgmental manner. My wife was made to feel like she was just another number on a schedule rather than a patient dealing with a real medical condition. She became so distressed that she walked out in tears and wanted to leave the office altogether. When she was later called back, the nurse Abigail was kind and compassionate, which helped calm the situation. Chelsea, the nurse practitioner, was the only provider who truly listened. She was understanding, empathetic, and focused on creating a thoughtful plan of care. Chelsea made my wife feel heard and validated, not “crazy” or dismissed, and for that we are extremely grateful. Unfortunately, the rest of the office staff, including the physician, lack the empathy and professionalism that are essential in an OB-GYN setting. My wife has been a patient here for seven years and refuses to see the doctor due to repeated inconsiderate behavior. Based on this experience, we will be finding a new provider immediately. If you choose to visit this office, I strongly recommend requesting Chelsea, the nurse practitioner. Otherwise, I would not recommend this practice to anyone who wants to feel respected, heard, and cared for.

My wife received a miss call a few minutes before they closed and listen to the voicemail and all it said was to call back. And she did and she also left a voicemail and no one ever called back…. No email. No letter in the mail. Then when she went in for her anatomy scan. She was told that dr Schmidt changed insurance networks meaning my wife is no longer covered…. We then had a hard time finding a new obgyn because most obgyns don’t accept new patients after 20 weeks. On New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day we had to spent it in the Er and had to leave the family party we were at because she was bleeding… when we talked to the obgyn in the ER he said if we knew where the placenta was and how the baby was we would have been less worried… basically hinting that the emergency could have been avoided if we had the anatomy scan…. The only thing I learned from this experience is that we can use the hazard lights when driving fast on the freeway to get to the ER. Who ever is in charge of contacting patients to let them know when there is a new change for the clinic’s coverage please do better because we thought we were going to lose our baby and I thought I might lose my wife. This horrible situation all could have been avoided… please do better. You can’t put a price on a human life :(

I have been a patient of Dr. Schmidt's for almost 10 years. Always had great care and nice interactions. However, recent things must have changed everything from relocating to no longer taking insurance. There were complications and no options during my visit that ended up postponing my future plans, I called back to go with a different plan and it seemed all set up and i assumed that my prescription would be at my pharmacy but nothing...I attempted to reschedule for another date because I had to work the day I originally planned, so I tried to call and no one answered, I left a voicemail asking to reschedule on specific days and tried to book as well. I got no callback no email nothing...but when I get an email saying we missed you on a date that I was planning on scheduling but they never got back to me with a notice I ended up working through it and they were closed through the holidays...I recently tried to make an appointment again and ask why my prescription was never sent in before my health insurance was going to end only to discover from the lady on the phone that she is no longer taking insurance...this is how Im finding out, no email or anything beforehand. I get a lot of emails and check them daily, unless I missed it this is a very huge lack of communication and I hope they will inform patients sooner if they didnt so we are not stressing about finding another doctor we trust our personal care with and building a relationship with them.

I’ve been a patient going on 2 years now. Just had my first baby and Dr Schmidt and her staff were so nice and helpful. Very informative with this being my first they answered all my questions big and small. She also made sure me and baby were healthy, with my blood pressure being questionable she closely monitored it and followed up with me weekly. When it came time for delivery I wanted to have a natural birth and even with my labor lasting 24+ hours Schmidt did not question my choice instead she and the staff at methodist West did everything to help me achieve my goal.

My experience with Dr. Schmidt was very disappointing. She never introduced herself and consistently rushed through all my appointments. She lacked empathy and bedside manner. I high-risk and struggling with nonstop vomiting. She never greeted us or congratulated us when our baby was born. When I reached out within days of giving birth because I was experiencing severe anxiety and needed help, she told me she couldn’t assist and referred me to my GP instead. To make things worse, her billing manager later begged me not to leave the practice and to write a positive review, admitting that the doctor had previously been told to work on improving her bedside manner. Overall, I felt dismissed, unsupported, and deeply disappointed by the lack of compassion during such a vulnerable time. Runaway.

I Have basil cell cancer - this office did NOT properly diagnosed and did NOT treat for 8 months. New dr determined in 6 days and referred me immediately to surgeon and set up surgery. Very poor treatment - no interest in diagnosing my problem Went twice with a problem. Tried antibiotics and cream Very rushed - ran out by of room and left me with no plan - very rude. Called me back when I called to get tests results - said you are unhappy so we are cancelled your appointment and are sending your records to you Little did they know I was already in the office of my new dr that I love. Not rushed, listens, interested, has a plan and answered my questions They should read the law this it says they must treat me til they refer me to someone else - they just can’t cutoff treatment like they did with a rude phone call and hang up on me! I was as patient there for 7 years. Used to be good but not now. Exactly the opposite - no compassion or interest in the patient at all -so rushed and uncaring - just after the good old American dollar! Confirmed by new dr in 6 days - basil cell cancer And set for surgery on august 25. 10 mo after I first went to Schmidt with a problem Schmidt let it go on for months Had a horrible surgery on Monday. Will take 6 weeks of doing nothing to try to recoup. Can’t help but think if Schmidt had done her job a year ago that surgery would have been easier Please go elsewhere.

She always put me at ease during the birth of my twins (they are 18 now), has consistently delivered good quality care since then, and always listens to my concerns. The office is organized (literally and in scheduling) and the staff have always been helpful and polite.

I felt compelled to come and edit my review as I have seen many reviews about Dr.Schmidts bedside manner and there experiences. I have gone through 2 pregnancies at Dr.Schmidts office. The first time I was 19 scared, shy, and unprepared. I would walk into my appointments and not really ask questions and if i did have questions she made sure to answer them quickly for me. I do see how some people can feel rushed and out the door but during my second pregnancy I was more confident and more comfortable with her I asked questions, talked about my first daughter. And prepared to deliver my son with her. I explained concerns and she reassured me. There was 2 appointments during my pregnancy where I was in the room and she got a call that other patients were ready to push I understood someone’s whole world was about to be born and quickly asked my questions and let her head out. She was ready to go assist her patients immediately. That’s all I could ask of my Dr when it’s time to give birth!!! When it came time to my delivery she was so encouraging. Congratulated me and my partner and kept telling me what an amazing job I did. I would just like to end off with saying that Dr.Schmidt had incredible bedside manner and laughed with me during visits I would recommend her to everyone and hope other reviews don’t discourage you from giving her a chance. my experience as a first time mom was so peaceful and stress free any questions I had Dr. Schmidt always made sure to assure me and take time to discuss with me. Even during delivery her encouraging words were motivating and so meaningful. I would recommend her to every mama

Had care from an NP at the same office who abruptly departed and I was auto transferred to Dr. Schmidt. As others have said, very rushed and dismissive care. On night of delivery she was contacted but since Methodist brushed me off (hospital's fault in this case) and told me I wasn't in 'real' labor despite pink blood stained urine WHILE there. I was sent home from that hospital twice and returned at 9:40am all but holding my daughter in- someone else delivered the baby but guess who still billed for it- even though they pre-billed it and we paid the labor fee in advance. The ONE shining light on this office is that after getting rejected by Methodist TWICE and told I'm not in labor - it was the nurse on call here that validated that it did in fact sound like I was in labor and to return. By that point I was afraid to leave the house for fear I'd have it in the car. Between pulling up to the hospital (and getting upstairs and checking in) - to my daughters birth - it was maybe 30 minutes. Like I was signing in-they wheeled me to the room- had to strip me down and put me in the gown- rolled me to my side and my water burst while my husband was still signing me in. My daughter's heart rate dropped and they went into emergency delivery- something that wouldn't have been necessary if they hadn't dismissed my two prior visits. Worth noting- the girl who did deliver my daughter was nice enough- she simply wasn't present when I was in overnight as far as I recall. But overall- all of my concerns during pregnancy were brushed off and I had the absolute worst experience with labor. I will never recommend this OB or the staff in L&D overnight at Katy Methodist.

Dr. Schmidt was the on call surgeon when I was admitted at Methodist West the night of November 7, 2020 for an emergency C-section because of suspected nuchal cord. She arrived promptly, successfully performed the surgery (which was indeed nuchal cord—4x) and delivered my daughter safely. I am thankful for Dr. Schmidt’s skill/expertise, her commitment to her patients and professional bedside manner. My daughter is 4.5 years old currently and is happy, healthy and thriving—which is all [this mother] hoped and prayed for. I am thankful for *all of the staff members (nurses, etc..) that evening for helping us through such a challenging time and achieving a successful outcome. Every day I spend with my daughter is thanks in part to each of you—and for that, we are forever grateful 🫶🏼
